Volunteer Recognition Night 26th April 2017 – Springhill

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers that support the many organizations throughout Cumberland County.

On the 26th April 2017 the Dr. Carsen and Marion Murray Community Centre in Springhill hosted the Cumberland County annual volunteer appreciation night.

Julie Matheson, Executive Director and Bonnie Langille, Manager Lifestyles and Volunteer services were thrilled to attend the Cumberland County Volunteer appreciation dinner with Jim Wills from Pugwash who had been nominated for his outstanding contributions. Jim was among the prestigious group of 53 volunteers in total who were being recognized for outstanding volunteer work throughout the County. Guests were entertained by local artist singer song writer Dave Moore, a delicious dinner was served and messages of appreciation were given by Cumberland County Warden , Al Gillis and Cumberland south MLA, Jamie Bailey thanking all volunteers for their important contributions to their communities. All volunteers received award certificates and gifts by one of the Cumberland county councillors. Jim Wills has been a volunteer in the Pugwash area helping to create several organizations as well as serve in other organizations since he moved here over 57 years ago, Jim continues to be a voice for a safe community and for those who live with disabilities. Another local volunteer recognized for all his work in Pugwash and area was Mr. Peter Lewis. Our own Christine Henderson was recognized for the outstanding volunteer work she is doing with the Wentworth Historical Society.

Congratulations to all the volunteers of all ages throughout our communities, we are rich with great volunteers who so generously give of their time and talents.
