The Sunset Community provides safe and supportive living, learning and work environments so each participant can live a satisfying and meaningful life. We provide services to adults with disabilities through the following:

The Health & Holistic Services department is committed to providing quality, supportive services. Our model of service is based firmly on our mission, vision, and values statement: Participant goals, wants, and needs are our first priority.

Support Services

The Support Services team works closely with the Client Services team to ensure services are provided in the most safe and comfortable settings. Many participants find vocational placements working with members of this team.

Mark Wood holding a coffee

In August 2022, with a passion for serving fresh coffee and a $500 loan, Mark Wood set out to start his first business. After a day with the owner of Epoch Coffee, to learn the necessary barista skills, he quickly went to work planning his own business. He conducted market research, sourced supplies, and purchased equipment.

Mark is now serving fresh ground coffee four days a week to an average of 24 customers each day. Starting “The Coffee Guy” has allowed Mark to improve many different skill sets such as; customer service, time management, budgeting, branding, daily and weekly cleaning, inventory, data entry, creating posters, and using the PA system for advertising. With many more learning opportunities to come in the future, we are all eager to see how Mark continues to grow along with “The Coffee Guy”.

Amy Dares

Amy is an asset to the Lifestyles team, supporting daily recreational activities with enthusiasm. Amy brings fun, smiles, and energy to every activity, helping create lasting memories for everyone involved. Her vibrant presence uplifts the team, ensuring that every day is filled with joy and connection. Her contributions have a significant impact on both the team and the people we serve.

A fun fact about Amy is her incredible memory—she has a remarkable ability to remember even the smallest details, which helps keep the team organized and on track every day.
